Position: Accounting Assistant (part-time)
Reports to: VP Controller

Position Summary:
Maintains and processes bills through accounts payable system.  Responsible for entries to various general ledger accounts including investment entries.  Assists with other accounting department projects as needed. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable 50%
  1. Responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Payable function
  2. Ensures that all bills are paid accurately and promptly
  3. Verifies and expenses charges on the Bank credit cards
 
Accounting Functions 30%
  1. Responsible for investment transactions, entries, and making adjusting entries at month-end
  2. Responsible for monthly reporting for the Freddie Mac loan portfolio
  3. Responsible for periodic entries to the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) account
  4. Maintains and monitors equipment maintenance contracts
 
Winona Banc Holding Company Responsibilities 10%
  1. Responsible for paying quarterly dividends to shareholders
  2. Responsible for all aspects of the Account Payable function for the holding company
 
Additional Duties and Responsibilities 10%
  1. Backs up the processing of the general ledger interface for bank payroll
  2. Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required
  3. Other job related duties necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Associate Degree in Accounting or Business required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Previous accounting and/or banking experience desired.  Must have a courteous and professional customer service attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must have strong math skills, strong organization skills, and good aptitude for computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.  Must possess effective problem solving and research skills.
 
History of Winona National Bank
Since 1874 Winona National has been an important part of the heritage and history of Winona, MN. Winona National’s downtown building was erected in 1916, originally housing both the Winona Savings Bank and the newly formed Winona National Bank.
 
Shortly after the historic building at 204 Main Street opened, the two banks merged to form "Winona National and Savings Bank". In 2001, Winona National and Savings Bank merged with its sister-bank, Town and Country State Bank, to once again form "Winona National Bank". At the time of this merger, both banks were subsidiaries of Winona Banc Holding Company. The merger allowed a consolidation of processing, combining of expertise, and three convenient locations in Winona: East, West, and Downtown. In 2017, a loan production office was opened in Eau Claire, Wis., to expand commercial loan services into the Chippewa Valley.
