DESCRIPTION:The Public Policy Committee of the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the business community to learn about California Cars Mandate in Minnesota.\n\n\n\nThis past Summer\, Governor Walz's administration formally pushed through new rules that subordinate Minnesota vehicle emissions requirements to unelected California bureaucrats. Because of this\, vehicles sold in Minnesota will need to be California-certified. Under California's (and now\, Minnesota's) regulations\, fewer trucks\, SUVs and minivans will be available in Minnesota. \n\n \n\nOn the merits\, this plan fails Minnesotans by reducing our choice of vehicles and increasing cost on all vehicles. But perhaps even more frightening is the precedent now set\, that Minnesota policymakers were sidelined in favor of unelected California bureaucrats\, who are working to ban the sale of new gas powered vehicles by 2035. \n\n \n\nChamber members should know what's coming around the bend in terms of our vehicle sales regulations\, which are now subject to change without your input\, as well as the dangerous precedent of outsourcing Minnesota regulations to a California agency. \n\n \n\nJoin us to hear from Scott Lambert\, President of the Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association to hear about this policy\, how it became law in Minnesota\, what the Dealers are doing to try and repeal the rule\, and what may be next.
